Craig Custance: Red Wings winger Thomas Vanek said he likes it in Detroit and wants to remain there, but added that he’s use to moving now if he gets traded at the deadline.
Craig Custance of ESPN: If the Red Wings fall out of the playoff race, GM Ken Holland has to trade some of his pending free agents, which would include Thomas Vanek. The Blackhawks could use some help on the wing and Vanek would be a great fit.
St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars and Top 20 Trade Bait …
Frank Seravalli of TSN: Teams will ask the Blues about Kevin Shattenkirk, and the Oilers about Jordan Eberle, but they are trending to remaining in St. Louis and Edmonton. The Blues gave Shattenkirk’s camp permission last offseason to speak with two or three teams, including the Oilers, but he wasn’t able to find a fit. He could be looking for around seven years and $50 million. Shattenkirk could be open to going to a team for the remainder of the season. The Blues had been okay with the idea of letting him walk at the end of the season for nothing, but that may not be the case anymore. The Oilers could use someone like Shattenkirk and might consider moving a conditional first round pick for him.
Only the Dallas Stars, St. Louis Blues and maybe the Calgary Flames could be looking for an upgrade in net. Philadelphia Flyers Steve Mason may be a good value buy for the Stars.
