NHL Rumors: Ryan O’Reilly – Sabres, Blues, and Sharks
The Buffalo Sabres don't have to trade Ryan O'Reilly, but the St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks could be options.
On the Buffalo Sabres and Ryan O’Reilly …

Pierre LeBrun: “Was just emailing with a source from league head office on this. Sabres got clarification from the NHL that while ROR bonus was payable today, they’ve got until midnight tonight to play with as far as another team paying that bonus if they’re able to trade him today…”

Frank Seravalli: “Who really knows what happens with O’Reilly, but some thought that mentioned to free agents on pitches to not plan on ROR being around next season. We’ll see.”

Mike Harrington: “Preach this. The Sabres do NOT have to trade O’Reilly. If you want to give JBott a haul, he’ll talk. Otherwise, he’s telling you to pound the pavement.”

On the St. Louis Blues and Ryan O’Reilly …

Lou Korac: “Many have asked what I know about & Ryan O’Reilly. I’ve stayed away from commenting b/c I’ve received conflicting reports. Was told that Blues obviously didn’t want to pay $7.5 million roster bonus due & have been prepared to offer bigger package will now want.”

Pierre LeBrun: “The Blues are still interested in ROR; to some degree the Habs as well among other teams. The Sabres’ believed ask of a 1st, 2nd and top prospect or young player still too rich for some … Teams don’t think ROR will be dealt once bonus is paid by Sabres”

On the San Jose Sharks and Ryan O’Reilly …

Paul Gackle: “Again, O’Reilly potentially an option for if 91 doesn’t pan out, but I’m not sure they can meet that asking price.”
