On the Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes, Ottawa Senators, St. Louis Blues and Montreal Canadiens …
Craig Custance of The Athletic: One GM said that there is “a ton of conversations going on right now,” with teams checking in on the asking prices. The GM added that he thinks some deals could happen in the next week or two.
Buffalo Sabres – Teams are calling the Sabres about Evander Kane. The Sharks have the cap space to add someone like Kane. Teams are also calling the Sabres about Benoit Pouliot, Johan Larsson and Jacob Josefson.
Arizona Coyotes – Source is saying that forward Anthony Duclair has requested a trade.
Ottawa Senators – Trading defenseman Erik Karlsson at the deadline would maximize the return. Someone might be interested in defenseman Johnny Oduya as a rental. The Senators will likely take calls on anyone.
St. Louis Blues – The Blues are looking for scoring help up front. Mike Hoffman could be one target. If taking on term, the Blues would likely have to send out money in a deal.
Montreal Canadiens – Max Pacioretty may have more trade value now than he does in the offseason. Alex Galchenyuk is another trade option for the Canadiens.
On the Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators …
Chris Nichols of Fan Rag Sports: Darren Dreger on TSN 1260 talking about the trade talk history between the Oilers and Senators, and the Oilers interest in Mike Hoffman.
“And these two clubs came real close to making a pretty big trade not that long ago and just couldn’t get it done, and that trade was Taylor Hall for I think they finally got to a place where Ottawa was willing to consider Cody Ceci – so it would have been Hall for Ceci – but had to be cleared in Ottawa through ownership. And before they could get clearance, Hall got traded to New Jersey for Larsson.
“So I don’t know that these two teams are best suited to make a deal, but I know that Peter Chiarelli should and does have some interest in Mike Hoffman.”
When asked if there were more pieces involved in the Hall-for-Ceci trade talk, Dreger said:
“I don’t think so. I don’t think so.” responded Dreger.
