NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators

On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: The Sharks need to decide if they are fine with rotating left wingers on Joe Thornton‘s and Joe Pavelski‘s line or if they need to make a deal. The Sharks have used seven different wingers with Thornton-Pavelski.

“We’ve had a few different players there, and I don’t think it’s a concern,” said the captain. “You’re always looking for chemistry and something set in stone if you can get it, but throughout a game, things change.”

Three Western Conference teams have already made moves – Anaheim Ducks – Patrick Eaves, Chicago Blackhawks – Tomas Jurco and Minnesota – Martin Hanzal.

On the Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 960 yesterday morning. Friedman thinks the price the Coyotes got for Martin Hanzal was good for the Colorado and the price they are wanting to get for Matt Duchene or Gabriel Landeskog.

“I wouldn’t be surprised now if some teams circle back. I really think Nashville is going to be an interesting team to watch in all of this. They have a hole down the middle. They’d like to add. David Poile in the last two years has shown no fear of making a big move. He’s made two of the biggest trades in the NHL the last two years. But it’s going to be a big price. You know if you’re doing business with Colorado, it’s going to cost you. I could see that being a draft trade as opposed to a trade now.

“But what Minnesota did yesterday and what Arizona did yesterday, it says to me that Colorado is going to say, ‘Hey, look what they got for a rental. We’re not dropping our prices for a guy who’s signed for two years.’

“And in Landeskog’s case, a guy who’s signed even longer than that.”
