Scouting the Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks
Adam Kimelman: Scouts listed to attend last night’s Flyers – Canucks game were the Anaheim Ducks, New York Islanders, Edmonton Oilers, Vegas Golden Knights, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues, and the Seattle Kraken.
Mario Ferraro may be okay with a trade, but hasn’t asked for one
NHL Rumour Mill: David Pagnotta on the Sheet on the San Jose Sharks rumors: “I think Mario Ferraro has been a little bit frustrated with how this team has gone the last couple of years; similar to Danault, I haven’t asked for a trade, but if something happens ok, so be it .”
NHL Rumors: Can the Sabres Get Alex Tuch Re-Signed?
The New York Rangers may be looking for a ‘star’
NHL Rumour Mill: David Pagnotta on the Sheet on the New York Rangers: “The mindset slash mandate it seems from way up top is to go get yourself a star, let’s get this team back in the headlines for all the right reasons, and let’s get this team back in the playoffs.”
The Philadelphia Flyers could be looking for a middle-six center. Do they want to aim high?
Kevin Kurz of The Athletic: Confirmed by multiple sources that the Philadelphia Flyers are looking for depth at center. They want to improve their fourth line. The loss of winger Tyson Foerster has also hurt their scoring depth. Adding a middle-six center could bump Noah Cates to the wing.
29-year-old Christian Dvorak is a pending UFA, and with his production this season and the thin market, his price is going up. Could see the Flyers being okay with a two or three-year deal, but can’t see them wanting to go five years.
Do the Flyers look to acquire a higher-end player who is not attached to a long-term deal? St. Louis Blues Brayden Schenn has two years left at $6.5 million or Nashville Predators Ryan O’Reilly with one left at $4.5 million.
It shouldn’t be assumed that one of their top young prospects will take a spot in the next year or possibly two. They don’t want to rush if they’re not ready.
NHL Rumors: Maple Leafs, Stars, and the Flames
Defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen was in the rumor mill last season, but they need his size and physicality. Defenseman Egor Zamula could be the odd man out.
