On the Ottawa Senators, Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators …
Darren Dreger: Trade talks have ended with no deal. It’s believed that there were three-way trade talks with the Senators, Avalanche, and Predators involving Matt Duchene. Duchene would have ended up with the Senators.
Darren Dreger: Sources are saying that the Senators GM Pierre Dorion has been after Duchene since mid-September. Trade talks had heated up in the past couple weeks.
Elliotte Friedman: As Dreger mention, potential trade now appears to be dead.
Elliotte Friedman: Kyle Turris would have ended up in Nashville, Matt Duchene in Ottawa and Colorado would have received a bunch of draft picks and a maybe a prospect or two. Mattias Ekholm wasn’t involved.
Shawn Simpson: “If Duchene was coming to Ottawa. Turris was going. Only value comes if team like Preds could reach contract extention.”
On the Philadelphia Flyers …
Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Daily News: Flyers GM Ron Hextall isn’t going to panic and doesn’t have any plans to trade for a defenseman.
“One reason you have depth is for when you get in situations like this. Unfortunately, some of our depth is hurt, too,” Hextall said. “But to add a guy for a week and , you have too many players. It doesn’t make a lot of sense.”
Andrew McDonald is at least two weeks away from returning from a leg injury. Shayne Gostisbehere and Radko Gudas are day-to-day.
