On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: RFA center Chris Tierney signed his one-year, $735,000 qualifying offer.

A source saying that the Sharks didn’t offer Tierney a multi-year deal. Earlier this offseason they re-signed Ryan Carpenter which lead to some speculation about Tierney’s future with the team.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Connor Brown remains unsigned, but he’s not worried about it

“I’m just going to take care of what I can take care of and just be patient. Put it on the backburner,” Brown told reporters.

The Maple Leafs have less that $500,000 in summer cap space and there is speculation that they’ll need to move out some salary (mainly a forward) before the Leafs can lock him up.

James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak have been in the rumor mill of late.

Brown’s next deal is expected to be for around $3 million a season.

On the Dallas Stars …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill was on 630 CHED talking about the Stars and the moves they’ve made this offseason. Injuries derailed last season for the Stars, but they had plenty of cap space coming available to restock for next season. The Stars were able to bring in goaltender Ben Bishop, signed Alexander Radulov to five-year deal and traded for defenseman Marc Methot. The Stars are also hoping to have defensive prospect Julius Honka make the jump to the NHL next season.

“It’s definitely time for Julius,” confirmed Nill. “He went over to the world championships and played very well for Finland. He’s put in his time down in the minors. We brought him up two or three times last year. He played very well. When he was in the lineup our puck possession time really went up. So we’re looking forward to him making that next step.”
