Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Darren Dreger was on TSN 1040 talking about Ottawa Senators pending unrestricted free agent Kyle Turris.
“I don’t think that there’s any meaningful back and forth between Pierre Dorion, the general manager of the Sens, and Kurt Overhardt, who represents Kyle Turris,” indicated NHL Insider Darren Dreger during a Tuesday appearance on Vancouver’s TSN 1040. “I think that there’s a want and there’s a will from the club perspective to continue to negotiate, but the word on the street is that there may have been an offer presented at five years and $6 million per. And I’m told it’s less about the money and more about the term. And Turris wants seven or eight years.”
If the Senators aren’t willing to add the additional term to the offer, Dreger says a deal “may not happen.”
Ray Ferraro was on TSN 1040 and noted the Senators are still looking to add a forward, and will likely do so well before the trade deadline.
“But I also suspect that they’ll make a deal – well before March they’ll make a deal for a forward. They’re looking for one. They’ve been looking for one. They thought they were maybe getting close a couple of times. But they’re a forward short, they know it, and they’d like to go get one. They have a surplus of blueliners, a lot of them very young, that aren’t in the NHL yet and maybe they’d part with one of those guys.”
