Draft notes involving the Blackhawks, Avalanche, Canucks, Panthers and Senators

Neal McHale: Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman on a conference call said that they would consider their No. 3 if they were to receive a really appealing offer. Obviously hasn’t happened yet and Bowman thinks it’s unlikely.

@Prospects_Watch: Darren Dreger on TSN 690 on the Colorado Avalanche: “If they draft Byram like many believe they will 4th overall, does that open the door for a pretty significant trade, Tyson Barrie’s name has been out there, could Montreal get in that discussion?”

  • @Prospects_Watch: Dreger continued: “…There’s a lot of speculation here in Vancouver that Jim Benning is certainly going to get in that conversation and probably has had that conversation.”
  • AJ Haefele: Sources saying that Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie is in play this weekend.

@Prospects_Watch: Elliotte Friedman said on Sportsnet that he’s heard the Vancouver Canucks (No. 10) may be looking to swap picks and have talked to the Detroit Red Wings at No. 6 and Buffalo Sabres at No. 7. The Canucks are being very active.

@akaRCN: Sportsnet 650 is speculating that the Canucks could be interested in moving up ahead of the Oilers so they can draft Phillip Broberg.

  • J.D. Burke: On the rumors of the Canucks wanting to move ahead of the Oilers to draft Broberg:”1) It’s my understanding that Canucks scouting staff aren’t as keen on Broberg (they prefer Soderstrom, even) as management.
    2) Moving up for Broberg is not a move I endorse”

Jameson Olive: Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon on the potential that they trade the No. 13 pick: “We have a line in the sand. At 13, if all those players are gone, then we’ve already talked to teams about who’s willing to move up, who’s willing to move back, and what the get is and what the cost is. That’s part of the fun.”

Bruce Garrioch: Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion has had multiple talks about moving up from the No. 19 slot. Dorion expects that they will stay at No. 19 unless they get a good offer on the draft floor.
