Could the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs be talking Dougie Hamilton?

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins forward Ryan Spooner is on pace for 12 goals and 31 points after scoring 13 goals and 49 points last season. Spooner does still hold value around the league.

Have to wonder if he could be one of the main pieces in a package for a top four defenseman.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Heika: When asked what are the chances that Jamie Oleksiak remains with the Stars this season: “It’s a tough spot for the team right now with Lindell, Honka, Johns, Oleksiak and Nemeth, but Oleksiak is making the most of it. I think he’s forcing them to consider trading a veteran defenseman instead of one of the kids. We’ll see if he can maintain this level”

Scouting the New York Islanders and Calgary Flames …

Arthur Staple: Around 15 teams at the Islanders – Flames game last night including the Lightning, Flyers, Blue Jackets and Oilers.

On the Calgary Flames, Dougie Hamilton and the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Bob McKenzie was on TSN 1050 and was asked if he’s heard anything about the Maple Leafs and if they are interested in defenseman Dougie Hamilton.

“I’m sure they probably are,” surmised McKenzie. “I mean, listen – they want to improve their defense. If Hamilton is available – and we don’t really know if he is or isn’t. Calgary is definitely listening on Dougie Hamilton. That’s not the same as wanting to trade him. Montreal was listening on P.K. Subban too, as they told us on multiple occasions.

“So I don’t have any evidence to suggest anything is imminent. Would the Leafs like to bolster their blueline? I’m sure they would. That’s the next logical step in the progression for this hockey team.”

Michael Augello: Flames GM Brad Treliving was at the Maple Leafs – Capitals game on Saturday. Maple Leafs Director of Pro Scouting Dave Morrison was at the Flames – Flyers game on Sunday.
