On the Dallas Stars …
Elliotte Friedman: Team doctors will be meeting with Patrick Sharp about his nagging injury. Due to the injury, he may not be traded today. GM Jim Nill wouldn’t go into details, but he’s been honest with teams. Sharp has been trying to play through the injury, but it’s been getting tough for him.
On the New York Islanders …
Arthur Staple: The Islanders don’t have any NHL ready goaltenders behind Jaroslav Halak. They would definitely trade Halak for the right price, but they may actually need him.
On the Los Angeles Kings …
Renaud Lavoie: The Kings are trying to move Marian Gaborik .
On the Edmonton Oilers …
Jim Matheson: Don’t hear anything about the Oilers adding another center. They have the worst face-off winning percentage at 46.8 percent.
On the St. Louis Blues …
Jeremy Rutherford: Not sure if there is a market for Scottie Upshall, but there is a chance he could be traded.
On the Boston Bruins …
Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins GM Don Sweeney met with the media last night and said he didn’t have anything imminent.
“Nothing imminent. in a lot of talks and exploring some different situations that would possibly help our team,” said Sweeney. “I’m really not that anxious to complete something just for the sake of finishing it.
“It’s always been about what could help us now with an eye toward the future. There is always a balance. You recognize what the team needs and how well they’re playing. Do you have enough depth? It’s always been with an eye toward the commitment we’ve put in place and moving forward.”
The Bruins were in deep conversations with the Colorado Avalanche about Gabriel Landeskog but were unwilling to trade Charlie McAvoy or Brandon Carlo. Sweeney said they kicked tires on some back up goalies. Sources have linked the Bruins to Jaroslav Halak.
