Stars and Seguin continue to talk extension

David Pagnotta: Tyler Seguin’s camp and the Dallas Stars were expected to talk again either yesterday or sometime today about an extension. The Stars know how important it is to get Seguin signed to an eight-year deal.

The Kings had offered Pacioretty six years at $6 million per

Chris Johnston: It is believed that the Los Angeles Kings had offered Max Pacioretty a six-year, $36 million contract extension offer back in June when they were talking with the Montreal Canadiens about a trade.

Gusev may not be interested in heading to N.A. to play for the Golden Knights

David Schoen: Golden Knights GM George McPhee on KHL defenseman Nikita Gusev: “We’re hoping that he will (come to North America). We’ve had conversations and it sounds like it’s something that he’d like to do. We’ll see what next year brings.”

Aivis Kalnins: (responding to McPhee’s comments on Gusev) “Good luck to McPhee. I’ve heard it on many occasions from people very well familiar with the situation that have stated endlessly that it’s highly unlikely that the player ever signs with the Golden Knights after how they treated Shipachyov.”

Golden Knights may not be closing the door on trading for Erik Karlsson

Nichols on Hockey: Pierre LeBrun was on TSN yesterday and said that the Vegas Golden Knights may not have closed the door on the possibility of trading for Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson after they traded and extended Pacioretty.

“At first I’m wondering does that close the door on an Erik Karksson trade to Las Vegas,” began LeBrun. “But what I’m being told is don’t be too quick to say that. And I think Vegas will certainly keep the lines of communication open with Ottawa. They’ve been after we know since the trade deadline, when they almost got him.

“But I think if the price is right, that Vegas is still in a position where they have cap space, where they have other prospects, where they have other assets that could entice the Ottawa Senators. I don’t know if I’d make them a front-runner because there’s a lot of teams in those conversations with the Ottawa Senators, including a couple of new teams, I’m told that came on the radar last week. But nevertheless, I wouldn’t totally close the door on Vegas.”
