Bruins and Krug haven’t talked extension
Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com: Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug is entering the final year of his contract. He’d like to remain in Boston but so far contract extension talks have been “nonexistent.”
“Nope, nothing,” Krug said at the NHL Player Media Tour on Thursday when asked if any contract discussions had happened. “Maybe a little surprise nothing has been talked about, but I realize that our team is in a different situation.”
The Bruins still need to re-sign RFAs Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo, so that could be delaying any talks with Krug. Krug understands this but wished there were at least some conversations.
“I understand we have two guys who need to be signed, and that can have big effects on our (NHL salary) cap situation moving forward, and our boss has to deal with that,” Krug said. “Of course I wish there was dialogue and some sort of call or something like that. It’s just nonexistent.
“I’ve put together a resume I’m very comfortable with and happy about. And trust me, I’m not saying I feel disrespected or anything. It’s just part of the situation.”
Krug had previously told ESPN that he’d consider talking less to remain with the Bruins.

“Would I take less to stay in Boston?” Krug answered rhetorically during the first day of the NHL/NHLPA preseason media tour. on Thursday“It’s something that I’ve talked about with my family and my agent. It’s something I’m interested in. How much less — that’s a question that will be answered at a certain time. I think something that’s fair will be able to be worked out both ways. As long as they want me, I think something could be done, realistically. Everyone does it. How much they do, is kind of their own opinion and on their own circumstances.”
