The New York Rangers have several players available for trade
TSN: Bob McKenzie on Insider trading on New York Rangers rumblings.
“They’ve already acquired Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider’s name is very much out in the trade front, as is Jimmy Vesey. The Rangers are shuffling their deck and trying to make some things happen.
And obviously there’s going to be negotiations with Jacob Trouba. There’s lots of speculation that something will get done on a long-term deal. Probably in the seven-year range with an $8 million AAV or thereabouts. Not done by any stretch of the imagination but that seems to be the target number that a lot of people think Trouba’s contract with the Rangers – when it’s done – will come in at.”
Frank Seravalli of TSN: The New York Rangers could be interested in signing Artemi Panarin come July 1st.
There has also been trade talk involving Chris Kreider, Jimmy Vesey, Vladislav Namestnikov, Kevin Shattenkirk and/or Pavel Buchnevich.
The Rangers are trying to trade Shattenkirk and could consider a buyout.
Kreider has a year left and if his contract extension demands are too much, he could be moved.
Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The New York Rangers are moving on to the next phase of their rebuilding plan.
They will be looking at the unrestricted free agent market – Artemi Panarin.
They are not interested in sending an offer sheet to any of the big RFAs.
If the Rangers are considering moving on from Chris Kreider, they may do so today and hope to get another first-round pick for tonight.
As of Wednesday night, there hadn’t been any substantive number talks between the two sides according to his agent.
The Rangers have made Pavel Buchnevich, Jimmy Vesey and Vlad Namestnikov available.
Kreider could be looking for a six- or seven-year deal at possibly $6.75 million or more.
Teams that might have an interest and might consider moving their first round pick for Kreider may include the Detroit Red Wings (No. 6 – unlikely), Buffalo Sabres (No. 7), Florida Panthers (No. 13), Arizona Coyotes (No. 13) and Colorado Avalanche (No. 16). An extension would need to be worked out an not just for one season of Kreider.
The Rangers could also see if anyone would move their 2020 first-round pick.
