Scouting the Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks …
Adrian Dater: The Maple Leafs and the Islanders had two scouts each listed to attend last night’s Avs-Canucks game.
On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
James Mirtle: (going off Iain MacIntyre’s tweet/article of the Canucks wanting to re-sign defenseman Erik Gudbranson) The Maple Leafs potentially dodged a bullet with that as they would have likely been interested in Gudbranson.
Pierre LeBrun: (replying to Mirtle) Think that the Maple Leafs have always been more interested in Canucks defenseman Chris Tanev over Gudbranson. doesn’t believe that Tanev is available though.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
TSN Insider Trading: Darren Dreger: Trading the Henrik and Daniel Sedin isn’t an option for the Canucks. A perfect world would see the Sedin’s telling the Canucks their future plans before the trade deadline, but their decisions will likely wait until after the season, possibly into the summer.
Bob McKenzie: The Canucks priority is to speak with Gudbranson camp about an extension. There haven’t been any specific contract talks between the sides yet, but they are expected to meet in the next week or two. If a new deal can’t be worked out, they will look to move him, and they are already getting lots of calls about him
On the Montreal Canadiens …
Mark Scheig: The Montreal Canadiens had two scouts watching the Blue Jackets-Wild game last night.
Mark Scheig: The two Canadiens ‘scouts’ were their director of pro scouting and director of player development – Eric Crawford and Martin Lapointe.
TSN Insider Trading: Pierre LeBrun: The Canadiens are getting calls on Max Pacioretty and will likely take calls on him up until the 3:00 pm deadline. This doesn’t mean they will trade him. Someone would have to step up and meet their asking price. They would have to get a young center in a deal, one that they could build around.
Pending UFA forward Tomas Plekanec could be dealt by the deadline, but there is a chance they look to re-sign him if they can get him on a cheap deal.
