Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: The Wild don’t have a first or second round pick this year. Will they trade one of Jonas Brodin, Marco Scandella and Matt Dumba? GM Chuck Fletcher says “absolutely.”
The Sabres, Lightning, Maple Leafs, Bruins, Stars and Flames are looking for defense. It’s believed the Wild have held lots of talks with the Sabres and Lightning.
Fletcher on Thursday night.
“Teams are calling on everybody. I’m not limited to anybody. I’ll talk to anybody about anybody. So we’ll keep talking.”
Fletcher said he’s open to taking back a player, but mentioned about getting futures – picks and prospects – to create more roster/salary flexibility.
The Wild need to re-sign RFAs Mikael Granlund and Nino Niederreiter and Fletcher plans to do so.
Fletcher may have been trying to move Jason Pominville‘s $5.6 million salary cap hit for the next two years. He has a modified no-trade clause of 10 teams which increases to 20 years on July 1st.
It’s believed the Wild spoke with the Bruins recently about Pominville.
