Flyers looking at Nylander?
Frank Seravalli: The Philadelphia Flyers are believed to be among the teams that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas has spoken with in the past few days. Not sure if there is a fit between the two teams, or how involved talks were before the Flyers fired GM Ron Hextall, but Dubas and Paul Holmgren have talked.
Michael Augello: The Maple Leafs have been scouting the Flyers this season and they were at the Flyers-Senators game on Wednesday.
The Leafs likely won’t get full value if they trade Nylander
Scott Wheeler: “The Leafs deciding they have to trade Nylander, if they decide that, will result in the Leafs getting less than he’s worth. Doesn’t strike me as a position this management group would put themselves in, and it would contradict everything Dubas has said about Nylander. We’ll see.”
Nylander’s last season in Toronto even if they re-sign him?
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman was on Sportnet’s Tim and Sid show and was asked about William Nylander‘s future with the team. Even if the Toronto Maple Leafs are able to sign William Nylander, Friedman believes it will be his last season in Toronto regardless.
“The one thing I do believe, no matter what happens, is that this will be William Nylander’s final season as a Toronto Maple Leaf,” asserted Friedman. “Whether he signs or whether he doesn’t sign, this is going to be it. And even if he does sign, I think Toronto trades him by the draft at the latest.”
“One way or the other, I think this is over,” he added. “I would be surprised if he played for Toronto next season.”
