Matt Marchese: “Edmonton, we know that they are at least monitoring the goaltending market. Tristan Jarry a fit there? Because I know the money has to work, but Tristan Jarry has really bounced back. It was a it’s been a really tough couple of years, especially last year. But he played a little bit better at stretches, and this year, when you look at the numbers, a 253, a 2.53 goals against, and a .914 save percentage for the Penguins in eight games. Could that be someone that might be made available?
Friedman: “Well, I think that, I think he could be available. I don’t think there’s any question about that. I mean, Pittsburgh has four goalies right now, right? They got him, they’ve got (Arturs) Silov’s, and they’ve got the two young guys, (Sergei) Murashov and (Joel) Blomqvist, who I think both are going to play. So Murashov, Blomqvist has played before. He was hurt earlier this year, and Murashov’s played this year, and you can see the ability there.

I mean, first of all, you know, Pittsburgh is in the race. They’ve been a bit of a surprise this year. So that always makes me wonder, like, you know, how do they feel about tampering with the way it started?
But in theory, yes, I think Jarry is available. Now, I think the thing, and I wrote at length about this yesterday with the Oilers, and what I think they have to consider. The other thing I forgot to mention there, that Edmonton kind of indicated is, they want someone who’s healthy. Because the worst thing that they, you can do is, you can make this move and then you trade for someone who’s not available. And that’s why they were nervous about (John) Gibson, and I know they’ve been nervous about Jarry for that reason.
And on based on pure ability, I think Jarry makes a lot of sense, but I know that that has has scared the Oilers is his propensity for getting hurt. Because, like, the thing about Skinner, at least, is he’s available. And as, as I wrote last night, and I feel very strongly, I just think the Oilers have to consider here whether it’s time? It’s time for him, it’s time for them, and everybody, including the team and the player, Skinner, will be better off with the move like you. You’re at the point now where you have to consider that.
But I understand the Oilers concerned about, okay, let’s just say we traded for a guy with a history of injury, and then it pops up on us. Then where are we? And I understand that concern, like I, like, I do think the way it’s gone this year is going to force the Oilers into potentially uncomfortable decisions. But I understand the concern about somebody who gets hurt a lot.
NHL Rumors: The Carolina Hurricanes and Andrei Svechnikov Speculation
I can’t tell you how many people in this league, who run teams still say that, you know, you talk about what’s the most important thing about a player, and a lot of them will talk about competitiveness and will and drive, but there’s a lot of them who will say availability. And, you know, in seasons like this one, you can’t control because it’s so compressed. But like people who get hurt, you worry about what they do, your roster, your salary cap, your decisions, and I think that’s the biggest call the Oilers will have with Jarry.
