On the St. Louis Blues, Arizona Coyotes, Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago Blackhawks …
Bob McKenzie: It’s looking more likely that if the St. Louis Blues trade Kevin Shattenkirk, it would be as a rental. The rental price is still high for Shattenkirk – a first round pick, a top prospect and something else. There have been three deals dating back to last year that were agreed upon, contingent on Shattenkirk signing an extension, which obviously didn’t happen. The most recent was a seven-year offer at $42 million.
Darren Dreger: The Toronto Maple Leafs remain interested in Shattenkirk. The Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers are among the teams interested.
Pierre LeBrun: Things are heating up with Martin Hanzal. The Arizona Coyotes may want to move him by the end of the weekend. Most of the interest in Hanzal is coming from Western Conference teams. The Montreal Canadiens are one of a handle of teams that remain interested.
Darren Dreger: Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill is one of the busiest GM on the phones. Patrick Eaves is drawing “a ton of interest.” 10 to 12 teams are interested in Eaves. * Eaves was traded to the Anaheim Ducks for a conditional 2017 2nd round pick.
Pierre LeBrun: Vancouver Canucks Jannik Hansen is drawing the most interest from their roster. He’s not a rental, has another year left on his deal. If the Canucks do trade him, they don’t want just a draft pick for Hansen. They’d like a young player or a top prospect. The Minnesota Wild might be one of the teams interested him. The Wild would be happy if they could trade for a bottom six rental.
Bob McKenzie: The Calgary Flames aren’t guaranteed to trade for goalie, but they are checking out the goalie market. They’d like an upgrade, but if the price is too high, they’ll just go with what they have.
Pierre LeBrun: The Florida Panthers may look to be buyers now and they are looking for a top-nine rental forward.
Darren Dreger: More than one team has had talks with former Panthers coach Gerard Gallant.
Pierre LeBrun: The Tampa Bay Lightning may wait as long as they can before deciding if they are seller or buyers. After Monday’s game they will have to decide whether to keep Brian Boyle and Ben Bishop or not.
Bob McKenzie: The Chicago Blackhawks could be in the market for a depth forward if it’s a low cap hit and could be had for a draft pick.
