On the Vancouver Canucks …
Rick Dhaliwal: Canucks forward Thomas Vanek‘s camp reached out to the Canucks this week about the trade the trade deadline and were told by GM Jim Benning that”we are going to evaluate all options.”
TSN Radio Vancouver: Ray Ferraro on the Cancuks: “The roster has to be prepared for next year. Had they done (that) three years ago, they would be in a much better position. But this is where they are and this shouldn’t even be a conversation. So what if you get a bit closer. What does that do for you?” … “This is the perfect time, in a market that’s been kicked around for a while here, to make the organization deeper and better. This is the perfect time. Because the people have had enough of the other way.”
On the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins …
Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 on the trade market.
“I think they’re already rolling. I do,” indicated Friedman. “Marc Bergevin is a pretty active guy. Other teams will tell you he’s probably if not the most active, he’s one of the most active GMs in the league. He’s making calls. I think there’s a lot of action around Pacioretty. I think there’s action around Galchenyuk. I think he’s willing to do a lot of things.”
adds that maybe only Carey Price and Victor Mete are untouchable. For now, Jonathan Drouin didn’t work as a center, so he needs to find one.
It seems like the Sabres, Canadiens, and Senators are active on the trade front.
thinks the Flames could be in the market for a winger, but it may not be at the level it was earlier this season.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the Flames are sort of maybe not the team that’s biggest into it, but on the periphery of the Hoffman stuff. The problem with Hoffman is he comes with term and you’ve got to decide if you can handle the term. You’re going to have to do a new deal for Ferland. You’re going to have to do a new deal for Tkachuk. So you can decide what you want to do there. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Calgary is kind of on the periphery of that one.”
thinks the Bruins could also be looking at Mike Hoffman, but they may not to move any of their young players.
