On the Vegas Golden Knights …
Bob McKenzie: As mentioned the TSN 1050 – sense is that Vegas has made at least eight deals before teams submitted their lists on Saturday.
Bob McKenzie: Speculated teams include the Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning, Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers.
John Shannon: Two executives think that Vegas could have “at least a dozen” deals in place.
Steve Carp: Some teams had travel issues and were given some extra time this morning to try and work something out.
Chris Johnston: The Leafs were one of the teams talking with Vegas today as GM Lou Lamoriello had travel issues.
Bob McKenzie: Need to watch Vegas and the free agent negotiating window as they could acquire a player this way.
Bob McKenzie: Wild’s RFA Erik Haula could be a target of Vegas and could get a new contract with them.
Jim Matheson: Vegas talked briefly to free agent defenseman Kris Russell‘s agent to see if there was interest in signing with them.
Andy Strickland: It is safe to assume that Vegas contacted Kevin Shattenkirk‘s camp. He’ll likely wait until after July 1st to sign anywhere.
On the Minnesota Wild …
Bob McKenzie: Lots of speculation the Minnesota Wild have or will have a deal in place with Vegas to not select Marco Scandella and Matt Dumba in exchange for a prospect.
On the Nashville Predators …
Chris Johnston: Sounding like the Predators couldn’t reach a deal with the Golden Knights and GM David Poile expects to lose a forward.
On the St. Louis Blues …
Jeremy Rutherford: Didn’t sound like Blues GM Doug Armstrong was willing to give up any assets for Vegas to not select certain players. The price to do so is understandably high.
Jeremy Rutherford: GM Armstrong: “We’ve transitioned over the last two trade deadlines not to give up picks and to gain prospects and we’re staying down that path.”
