SinBin.Vegas: Golden Knights GM George McPhee was on Sportnet 590 and once again said that they won’t be trading assets at the trade deadline, that he’s “not going to derail anything.” Has to be at least four interviews that he’s put it that way.
On the Pittsburgh Penguins …
Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: The Penguins last game was on Monday, with their next being tomorrow. The Penguins have played a lot of hockey the past couple years and will get a few more days off, and maybe some help.
“We’re getting to the point now where we’re getting a few more days off,” Rutherford said. “We can hopefully play with more consistency. I can hopefully add a player or two along the way here to give us a better chance to do that.”
A follow-up question downplays a potential trade a bit.
“I’ve always felt that way, right from the start,” Rutherford said. “Even if we had won five more games, I’d still be looking at doing that.
“I can tell you, it’s really hard to make trades in November and December. But if you get creative enough, you can usually figure something out.”
On the Philadelphia Flyers …

“So sorry Flyers fans, no raw meat for you today – or not for the foreseeable future. General manager Ron Hextall came out with a full vote of confidence today for head coach Dave Hakstol, who had the fans chanting during the game last night, ‘Fire Hakstol.’
McKenzie when asked if they are looking to make a trade soon.
“I think he’s making calls, but it’s not a seismic deal,” indicated McKenzie. “There’s not going to be anything involving the top-line players. They’re generally happy with their goaltending they’ve had this year. They’re generally happy with the young defense that they’re putting together. When they get Gudas back from the suspension they think they’ll tighten up defensively.”
