On the Edmonton Oilers …
Chris Johnston of Sportsnet: The Edmonton Oilers signed Jussi Jokinen to a one-year, $1.1 million deal back in July, but the Oilers are already willing to trade him. Rival teams are saying the Oilers are looking to see if there is anyone interested. He has one point in nine games and has been a healthy scratch.
Mark Spector of Sportsnet: Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli was watching their AHL team in Bakersfield last week to see if Jesse Puljujarvi could be ready to help their 3-6-1 NHL squad.
Chiarelli is working the phones for help, but it’s not the time of year when trades are usually made.
A source is saying the Oilers would be willing to trade Anton Slepyshev for a scoring right winger.
At least one team has inquired about defenseman Matt Benning. There hasn’t been any indication that the Oilers are shopping Benning. Chiarelli could be looking at other young defensemen and team may ask for Benning in return.
It’s looking like Kailer Yamamoto could be returned to junior soon. Chris Kelly is still skating with the team and could be signed when Yamamoto leaves.
Nick Kypreos suggested on the weekend that they could be willing to trade Ryan Strome. His play so far this season would likely mean the return wouldn’t be impactful.
On the Vegas Golden Knights …
Eric Engels: Suspended forward Vadim Shipachyov has decided that he wants to head back to Russia. After the unconditional waiver process (hasn’t been placed on it yet), his contract would be terminated.
Eric Engels: There is a chance that he won’t be put on unconditional waivers as early as , but stand by the report.
Eric Engels: Both sides are working a solution that would allow him to return to Russia.
