Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post: Multiple sources are saying the prospect Stanislav Galiev is on the trading block.
Galiev has 15 goals and 11 assists in 33 games in the AHL this season. Other prospects have been getting called up instead of Galiev when there’s been an injury.
The Capitals and Galiev’s camp have had talks about moving him before March 1st.
Galiev is a pending RFA and there was a chance that they may not have qualified him.
On the Buffalo Sabres …
The Instigators: Darren Dreger on the radio on the if it’s possible the Sabres would consider signing Evander Kane to a contact extension this summer: “It is obviously a possibility with the way he has played.” … “But I wouldn’t say it is likely.”
Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News: Evander Kane’s trade stock hit a low after he was charged with trespassing and harassment last year. For months nobody was interested. Now, his trade value may be at an all-time high as the deadline nears.
Several teams would definitely be interested in acquiring the winger.
GM Tim Murray should listen to offers, and if he gets an offer that could improve them in the future, he should make the deal.
He has one more year left on his deal at a $5.25 million.
Kane may now be an asset for the Sabres, for both their on ice product, and in a potential trade.
John Vogl of the Buffalo News: It would be a good idea for the Sabres to trade pending free agent defensemen Dmitry Kulikov and Cody Franson.
Teams will be interested in both players, and if need be, the Sabres can retain salary. They have the ability to retain salary in three trades.
The 26-year old Kulikov has been bothered by a back injury for most of the season and has only played in 34 games this season with only one goal and one assist. He carries a $4.33 million cap hit.
The 29-year old Franson has three goals and 13 assists in 53 games. He carries a $3.325 million cap hit.
