Muzzin would be a nice fit for the Jets
Murat Ates: Believe that LA Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin would be an ideal fit on the Winnipeg Jets blueline. The 29-year old has a year left on his deal at a $4 million cap hit.
Panarin’s agent and GM Kekalainen to talk after the All-Star weekend
Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch: Artemi Panarin’s agent Dan Milstein met with Columbus Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen in Russia last week at the Channel One Cup but they didn’t talk about Panarin’s contract situation.
Milstein and Kekalainen will talk about Panarin after the All-Star weekend.
“We discussed various subjects, including free agents,” Milstein said. ”(There was) no discussion regarding Panarin. We (will) discuss it after the NHL All-Star (weekend).”
Milstein will meet with Blue Jackets 2015 sixth round pick Vladislav Gavrikov after his KHL season ends to discuss his future. Gavrikov’s KHL contract expires after the season.
Blues will take their time with some tough decisions
Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman was on Sportsnet 960 and was asked if things have quieted down a little with the St. Louis Blues.
Friedman thinks that they will take their time with some hard decisions but we can’t be surprised with whatever ends up happening. They’ve got some good players but for whatever reason, it hasn’t worked as a team.
“I think Pietrangelo, he’s got one more year to unrestricted free agency. Tarasenko, he’s got a no-trade list that kicks in July 1. I think Brayden Schenn, I think he’s a guy a lot of teams would really like to have, or could say, ‘That guy could help us.’
“I’m not convinced they’re going to trade Jaden Schwartz. I know that’s a player that they really like there and they’ve always thought he was an important key to how they win. I don’t see him going anywhere. I’d be surprised.
“And even Parayko. I mean, his name has constantly been in rumors since the draft.”
