On the Winnipeg Jets and Jacob Trouba …

Pierre LeBrun of TSN: Think that Jacob Trouba would ultimately welcome a change. His contract is easily moveable and the Jets can take offers for him for the next two years.

Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun: When meeting with reporters on Tuesday, Jacob Trouba said he’s softened his stance on wanting a trade, as well as playing on the left side.

Trouba’s trade request was about his usage with the Jets and playing on the right side.

“That all goes out the window when you sign that piece of paper,” said Trouba, who had six goals and 21 points in 81 games last season. “It’s all about this team now, and what I can do to help this team.”

Ken Wiebe: When asked if he still wants to be traded, Trouba said: “No, I’ve committed to sign here. When I signed that piece of paper everything changed in my mind” … “I’m part of this team and whatever I’m asked to do for these next two years I’m under contract is what I’m going to do.”

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Greg Krupa: The Red Wings chances of acquiring Jacob Trouba may have been better when he wasn’t signed. The difficulty for the Red Wings is assets they have. (Doesn’t really fit what the Jets were looking for)

Greg Krupa: The Jets have already rejected offers from the Red Wings for Trouba, so not sure if the Wings are able to present anything better. Trouba now has a low salary and the Jets are wanting a big return.
