Bob McKenzie: It is believed that Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane each initially asked the Blackhawks for a contract extension worth around $12 million per year. Toews and Kane will get less than that, but could still end up around $10 million a year.
Cap Geek: If the Blackhawks were able to sign Toews and Kane at $10 million cap hits, the Blackhawks 2015-16 salary cap payroll would be about $62 million for 12 players.
Neil Sheehy: Matt Niskanen talked to the Penguins and he’ll be testing the open market in July 1st.

John Shannon: Oilers GM Craig MacTavish is downplaying that they are free agent shopping. They are still wanting to get a defenseman and “a forward or two.”
Ken Wiebe: Source saying the Jets are no closer to re-signing goaltender Al Montoya. He is getting lots of interest from other teams.
Tim Campbell: The Jets won’t use their compliance buyouts, “Not doable for small-market team.”
