Odds of Zuccarello returning to Dallas have lessened

David Pagnotta: It’s sounding like the Dallas Stars may no longer be in the running to re-sign winger Mats Zuccarello. This could change but as of now, it looks that way. He is getting interest from a number of teams.

Sean Shapiro: When asked if they are out on Zuccarello and if there is a Plan B

“1. Stars are still in on Zuccarello, even if chances have dropped.

2. They also plan to meet with a number of options, Pavelski for example could be good fit on 3-year deal.”

Hurricanes interested in a Capitals prospect

David Pagnotta: Have been hearing that the Carolina Hurricanes are trying to acquire the rights to Washington Capitals prospect Chase Priskie.

Panarin meeting with Florida today and then off to New York

David Pagnotta: Artemi Panarin will be meeting with the Florida Panthers today. He’s also expected to go to New York later this week to meet with the Rangers and the Islanders.

Andrew Gross: The Islanders and Rangers have long been expected to have interest in Panarin.

David Pagnotta: Have been hearing that the New York Islanders are going to make a big push for Panarin.

Even if they are able to sign Panarin, Anders Lee wouldn’t be out of the picture. The Islanders want to make a splash.

Questions about Kreider and Panarin

Larry Brooks of the NY Post: There are lots of questions involving the New York Rangers, Chris Kreider and UFA Artemi Panarin.

Do the New York Rangers try to sign Chris Kreider to a contract extension for six years at around $6.75 million or do they go after Panarin for seven years at around $11.5 million? Do they do neither and trade Kreider?

It’s been a while since the Rangers have been able to lure a big named free to New York. Panarin is a really good player, but

“(A) Is he really worth that, even on the inflationary free-agent market?

(B) Is this necessarily the right time for the Blueshirts to go all in on this player?”

Will Kreider’s agent now be looking at Kevin Hayes‘ seven years and $50 million on an extension?

Brooks would go with Kreider.
