On the Montreal Canadiens …

Louis Jean: The Canadiens are still looking to improve their team, but it won’t be a major deal.

Pierre LeBrun: The Canadiens still have five second round picks in the next two years. They could use one in another trade if need be.

On the Los Angeles Kings …

Dennis Bernstein: The Kings might have one more trade in them. Hearing that they are still looking to make moves.

Dennis Bernstein: The Kings are still talking but they won’t be moving anyone that has term left on their deals, including Marian Gaborik.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Kelly: Sounding like the Stars won’t be active today unless something new is presented to them.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Matthew Sekeres: The Canucks are unlikely to trade another roster player or prospect today. Might take on a bad contract for a draft pick.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Ryan Rishaug: The Oilers aren’t shutting it down for the day. They still have a few “irons in the fire.”

Joe McDonald: The Oilers were interested in Lightning’s Valtteri Filppula, but league source saying a deal is dead.

On the New York Islanders …

Joe McDonald: The Islanders are talking to teams about Josh Ho-Sang.

Brian Compton: The Islanders are aggressively going after Radim Vrbata.

Stephen Whyno: Jaroslav Halak is getting interest, but no guarantee he’s traded.

On the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins …

Joe McDonald: Source saying there is nothing going on between the Islanders and Bruins about a back up goalie.

On the New York Rangers …

Brett Cyrgalis: Coach Alain Vigneault on the deadline: “Unless something out of the ordinary…not quite sure if there will be a big splash.”

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Chris Johnston: Michal Neuvirth signs a two-year, $5 million extension – a $2.5 million cap hit.

John Shannon: The Flyers are now expected to protect Anthony Stolarz and make Michal Neuvirth available in the expansion draft.

Jim Matheson: Imagine the Flyers are not trying to trade Steve Mason as a rental to someone.
