The Ottawa Senators, Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche completed a three-way trade today.

The Ottawa Senators receive Matt Duchene.

The Nashville Predators receive Kyle Turris and sign him to a six-year, $36 million contract extension.

The Colorado Avalanche receive Sam Girard, Vladislav Kamenev, Andrew Hammond, Shane Bowers, the Senators 2018 1st round pick, 2019 3rd round pick, and the Predators 2018 2nd round pick.

Thoughts from the media …

Adrian Dater: “Matt Duchene first game for Sens will be Friday against Avs in Sweden. Can’t make this stuff up”

Andy Graziano: “Sakic wanted top prospect D. Only gets Girard in all that, 5’10, 164 lbs, selected 47th overall in 2nd round of ’16 draft.”

Shawn Simpson: “Sens situation is never just about hockey ops. So I’m always respectful of that. Ton of picks have been moved in recent years.”

Anthony Petrielli: “Dare I say… That’s a good trade for all 3 teams? COL gets a lot of assets for unhappy player, OTT doesn’t lose top prospects, NSH adds 2C.

Steve Kournianos: “Excellent trade for Colorado. Kamenev and Bowers are strong 2-way forwards. Girard and Makar will run a great PP. Sakic did well here IMO.”

Matthew Sekeres:”So #Sens paid 5 assets, including two 1st-rounders, to upgrade from Turris to Duchene, gaining one more year of service. Yikes.”

Robby Stanley: “When healthy, Preds just got really deep down the middle. Johansen, Turris, Bonino, Sissons/Jarnkrok. Top 4 D still intact when 4 returns.”

James Duthie: “Keeping Colin White out of that deal is big for Ottawa. Chabot was never going anywhere.”

Arpon Basu: “I know when you trade the away the best player in the deal you often lose, but that haul for the Avs is pretty impressive.”

James Gordon: “Sens managed a younger upgrade with an extra year, get salary relief re: Hammond and didn’t give up any tier 1 prospects. Decent imo.”
Shawn Simpson: “Sens give up a lot to move an expiring asset. Wasn’t a healthy situation with Turris. Team gets similar talent but happy player.”
