The New York Rangers have traded winger Rick Nash to the Boston Bruins for a 2018 first-round pick, 2019 7th round-pick, forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey, and defenseman Ryan Lindgren.

Pierre LeBrun: The Rangers are retaining 50 percent of Nash’s salary.

Nick Kypreos: The Bruins are retaining 50 percent of Beleskey’s salary and he’ll report to Hartford of the AHL.

The 33-year old Nash was drafted 1st overall in the 2002 draft by the Blue Jackets. Nash is a pending unrestricted free agent that carries a $7.8 million salary cap hit.

The 26-year old Spooner was drafted 45th overall in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft by the Bruins. He carries a $2.825 million cap hit.

The 29-year old Beleskey was drafted 112th overall in the 4th round of the 2006 draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

The 20-year old Lindgren was drafted 49th overall in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft.

Cap Friendly: “With @TSNBobMcKenzie reporting that the #Rangers will retain 50% of Nash’s cap hit ($3.9M), and with the #Bruins current $491,370 in projected cap space (equivalent to roughly a $2.2M total cap hit), a player(s) with a cap hit of $1.7M must also be part of the deal going to NY.”

Rick Nash was leading the #NYR in both expected and real goals at 5 on 5. https://t.co/lnmeKNano1 pic.twitter.com/wDKLCu8isE
