  • Blue Jackets Jared Boll has been suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head of Ducks Patrick Maroon. Maroon wasn’t injured on the play. Boll has been suspended once and fined twice in his career.
  • Aaron Portlzline: Boll will forfeit $27,419.34 from his suspension.
  • Katie Strang: Coyotes radio analyst and former NHLer Nick Boynton was detained after reportedly biting a police officer.
  • Arizona Coyotes: Statement on Nick Boynton.

    “Early this morning, Coyotes radio color analyst Nick Boynton was involved in a situation at a Buffalo casino. A police investigation is underway. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and until the continuing legal process is completed, we will have no further comment. Mr. Boynton has been placed on a leave of absence.”

  • Brian Bartlett: College free agent Kyle Baun signed with the Blackhawks and will report to the team this season.
  • Paul Friesen: Jets saying that 96 percent of their season ticket holders renewed for next season.
  • Chip Alexander: The Penguins will be a short a player tonight and will only dress 11 forwards.
  • DJ Bean: Bruins lines: Marchand-Bergeron-Krejci Lucic-Spooner-Pastrnak Smith-Soderberg-erikssson Kelly-Campbell-Talbot. Nicholas Goss: Chara-McQuaid Krug-Seidenberg Bartkowski-Trotman.
  • John Vogl: Sabres lines: Moulson-Larsson-Ennis, Foligno-Grigorenko-Gionta, Dalpe-Varone-Hodgson, Deslauriers-Ellis-Kaleta. Defensive pairings: Weber-Ristolainen, Benoit-Bogosian, Zadorov-Meszaros. Strachan is extra. Power play units: Moulson-Larsson-Gionta, with Ennis-Ristolainen; and Foligno-Grigorenko-Hodgson, with Meszaros-Bogosian.
  • Michael Smith: Hurricanes lines: E. Staal-J. Staal-Gerbe Skinner-Rask-Lindholm Terry-Nash-Semin Malone-McClement-Nestrasil. Defensive pairings: Hainsey-Faulk Liles-Biega Jordan-Murphy.
  • Ansar Khan: Red Wings lines: Abdelkader-Zetterberg-Nyquist Helm-Sheahan-Tatar Miller-Glendening-Jurco Weiss-Andersson-Pulkkinen Datsyuk, Cleary.  Power play units:  Nyquist-Zetterberg-Pulkkinen, Abdelkader (net front), Kronwall And Jurco-Weiss-Tatar, Sheahan (net front), Zidlicky.
  • Paul Hendrick: Maple Leafs lines: JVR-Bozak-Kessel, Lupul-McKegg-Booth, Panik-Komarov-Kozun, Lindstrom-Carrick-Bailey
  • Paul Friesen: Jets coach Paul Maurice said on Tuesday that they will run with the hottest goalie: “We did it with Hutch, we’ll do it with Pav. Just not going to run him into the ground.”
  • Paul Friesen: Ondrej Pavelec will start in net for the Jets tonight.
  • Joe Yerdon: Matt Hackett will start in net for the Sabres against Mike Smith and the Coyotes.
  • Laura Albanese: Jaroslav Halak will start in net for the Islanders tonight.
