Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres was suspended for 25 games for his hit on Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa.
Tracey Myers via twitter: Coyotes GM Maloney: “Raffi plays a hard, physical game yet this contact crossed the line on what is acceptable in our game today.” … “We hope Marian Hossa makes a full and speedy recovery as we all enjoy watching him.” … “The Club accepts the NHL’s decision and will focus on our game tonight.”
Darren Dreger via twitter: Dreger says the Blackhawks do a good job at protecting injury information. He thinks that Hossa was/is seriously injured with is a key factor in the suspension. Dreger adds “25 gms doesn’t establish new standard. Next player who delivers leaping hit to the head may only get 2-3 games. This is a message to Torres.”
