Larry Brooks of the NY Post: On the Rangers …
- Dan Boyle has really struggled in his own end so far this season, and isn’t close to what he was offensively in Tampa Bay and San Jose. The 39-year old is in the final year of his deal which carries a $4.5 million cap hit. It is an over 35 deal, and includes a no-movement clause. He would be hard to move if they wanted to. His $4.5 million shouldn’t guarantee him a spot in their roster. Boyle doesn’t appear to be a good fit in New York.
Ansar Khan of MLive: On the Red Wings …
- Darren Helm said he’s close to returning to the line up. If he can’t go this week, he should be ready for next week. Unless someone suffers an injury, the Red Wings will need to make a roster move. Joakim Andersson has been a healthy scratch their first two games and would be the most likely candidate. Andersson would need to clear waivers. Alexey Marchenko is waiver exempt, but that would leave them with only six defensemen.
- Tomas Jurco has also been scratched twice, and once Helm returns, he’ll have an even tougher time getting into the lineup.
Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: On the Oilers …
- Ben Scrivens and Nikita Nikitin are still waiting for their visa issues to be resolved before they can suit up for the Oilers farm team in Bakerfield. They both hope to be able to play on Friday.
George Stroumboulopoulos talks with Sidney Crosby, Erik Karlsson and Steven Stamkos.
