Dreger on NBCSN during intermission – If things don’t change in Boston and they miss the playoffs, it could mean change in their front office in the offseason – Peter Chiarelli or Claude Julien. Chiarelli is looking for a forward and a defenseman.
The Flyers are still in it, but have some assets they could move out. The could look to shed salary out and find someone that would take Vincent Lecavalier. They currently have nine healthy defenseman. Could ask Kimmo Timonen if he wants to go elsewhere.
Maple Leafs – Leafs will rip their roster apart. Phil Kessel (could be moved in a hockey deal) and Dion Phaneuf are more likely offseason moves. There have been offers for Phaneuf, with one of them not having the Leafs retain any salary.
Below video: Dreger on the Leafs – talking about the Kessel, Phaneuf and Roman Polak. Also talks about the Kings looking for a defenseman – Andrej Sekera, Jeff Petry and Zbynek Michalek. The Oilers are going to talk with Petry’s agency about an extension. Lou Lamoriello still thinks they can make the playoffs. Jaromir Jagr is willing to be traded, preferring an East team, but would go to the West. Pending UFA Mats Zuccarello won’t be traded at the deadline. He’ll be a tough negotiation as he may be looking for $5 million.
