Rumors I: Blackhawks, Rangers and Senators

  • Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune: One source said the three teams were most interested in Patrick Sharp were the Stars, Penguins and Panthers. Sharp will be GM Stan Bowman’s main guy to move and he’ll likely net them a draft pick or two.

Bryan Bickell could be another player on the move, with a source saying it may depend on what other players Bowman can move. Source putting it at “50-50.” Bickell has a limited no-trade clause, an eight-team trade list, but they could work out a deal with another team and approach Bickell to see if he’d waive it.

The Blackhawks have 15 players under contract at $65 million for next season – not including RFAs Brandon Saad and Marcus Kruger.

  • Andrew Gross of The Record: Cam Talbot signed a one-year contract extension earlier this year for $1.45 million – setting himself up nicely for a potentially big payday next offseason when he will be a UFA. A first round pick just for Talbot is a pipe dream, unless they package him with a defenseman. A second round pick could be a more realistic return.
  • Dhiren Mahiban of Pro Hockey Talk: Senators GM Bryan Murray on Tuesday when asked if he’s spoken with Coyotes GM Don Maloney about their No. 3 pick.

“I always ask the question, but I don’t think that pick in particular is in play at this point for us,” Murray said. “I think where we’re picking back at 18, that would be hard for him to move that far no matter what price I paid, but we have to ask the question anyway.”

On Robin Lehner, Craig Anderson and other goalies that are available.

“There’s going to be a couple moves. I think there’s three goaltenders really in play at the moment and there are a couple teams that are looking so what will happen based on that, I don’t know,” Murray said. “I think we should be the first choice.

“I think we’ve got the best guy. That’s my feeling and I’m very strong about that, but maybe not everybody looks at it that way.”
