Rumors I: Kane, Bruins, Jagr, Sens, Rangers and Ducks
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: The Senaators have called the Jets about Evander Kane, but they may not really be in the mix at this point. The Jets asking price may be too high for them, mainly the 1st round pick. Roster player and top-rated prospected is also part of what the Jets would like. The Canucks are also interested. It might make more sense for the Canucks to wait until the offseason, though the Jets could deal him at the deadline. Bob McKenzie reported that the Sabres are pushing hard for Kane and they have three first round picks. Rival executives thinks there is too much pressure on the Jets to make the playoffs and they’ll make the best deal at the deadline.
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: David Pastrnak has lessened the urgency for Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli to trade for a top-nine winger, although it’s likely they will do so by the deadline. The Bruins have talked to the Blue Jackets about Cam Atkinson, who is a pending RFA. The Bruins have renewed interest in Chris Stewart. LeBun thinks the Bruins may also like Maple Leafs Mike Santorelli.
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Jaromir Jagr’s agent met with Devils GM Lou Lamoriello before Saturday’s game. Lou may still think the Devils have a shot at the playoffs. Expect that Jagr’s agent will revisit talks with Lamoriello at some point next week.
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: The Rangers have been looking for an experienced goalie to back Cam Talbot while Henrik Lundqvist is out.
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Ducks GM Bob Murray denies talking to the Sabres recently about Tyler Myers.

“The last time I talked to Tim Murray was at the GMs meeting in November. I have not had a discussion with him since,” Ducks general manager Bob Murray told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

LeBrun thinks the Ducks could be looking for a more physical, aggressive defenseman.

  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: A contract extension with the Rangers is on the back burner for Martin St. Louis.

“I don’t know, I’m focused on my play right now, usually you do that and the rest takes care of itself,” St. Louis said Tuesday after the morning skate at Air Canada Centre.
