9:50 AM:
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Oilers assistant GM Scott Howson watched the Blue Jackets – Jets game on Tuesday. Perron has a $3.812 million salary cap hit. Anisimov has a $3.283 million cap hit. There had been rumors of a Perron trade with the Canadiens, but Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin doesn’t want to trade Lars Eller or David Desharnais – who is 5′ 7″.
- Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: There is a $600,000 difference the contracts of Perron and Anisimov. If they were looking to a “cash-in, cash-out” deal, would the Oilers be interest in Kevin Connauton or Tim Erixon? Oilers assistant GM Howson did acquire Erixon when he was with the Blue Jackets.
7:40 AM:
- Aaron Ward: The Oilers and Blue Jackets could be talking a David Perron trade, with the Oilers possibly focusing on Artem Anisimov. Blue Jackets John Davidson and Jarmo Kekelainen are familiar with Perron from their days with the Blues. Perron is just one of the option the Oilers are looking at.
- Aaron Protzline: Hearing that trade talk between the Oilers and Blue Jackets is well along in the process.
- Bob McKenzie: Can’t say for certain that an Oilers – Blue Jackets will get done, but they are working very hard to make something happen. Perron and Anisimov may be the main names mentioned, but other players are also being discussed.
- Jim Matheson: “If Oilers are trading Perron for Anisimov as Bob McKenzie says, I can think of other wingers I’d definitely deal before him. Perron is one of few Oiler 2nd and 2rd line wingers who is greasy. I’d rather they didn’t trade him.”
