Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Hearing that Canadiens prospect Zach Fucale could be available in the summer as he’d be no more than a backup to Carey Price. Can bet the Oilers would be interseted. The Oilers wanted to draft him with the 37th pick in 2013, but the Canadiens grabbed him with the 36th pick.
Teams are always saying they aren’t moving a prospect for a rental, but the East is wide open. Think the Canadiens really would like Jeff Petry on their second pairing. Would they include Jared Tinordi in a trade? Would the Red Wings include Ryan Sproul, Scott Harrington from Pittsburgh, Madison Bowey from the Capitals? The Ducks won’t trade Shea Theodore, but what about Josh Manson? The Blackhawks have Klas Dahlbeck and Stephen Jones.
The Capitals are looking for third pairing defenseman and a forward. Would give Sabres Chris Stewart a look.
The Wild could look to move Kyle Brodziak after they traded for Sean Bergenheim.
The Sabres love Avs Ryan O’Reilly, who could be traded in the offseason.
Matheson wonders how Emerson Etem fits in the Ducks long range plans. He has the speed, but scouts wonder how well he processes the game.
Some scouts feel the Ducks could trade Cam Fowler. He doesn’t have Hampus Lindholm’s all-around game and Sami Vatanen’s offensive game. Shea Theodore could eventually replace Fowler. Fowler could be used to find a winger to play with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
