- Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun: Sources saying the Maple Leafs are getting plenty of trade offers. Can expect them to make some moves by the deadline, as the vultures are circling the team now. No Leafs player has a complete no-movement clause. Cody Franson, Mike Santorelli and Daniel Winnik will get interest. Joffrey Lupul and Jake Gardiner could get some interest. The fan base would like to see Dion Phaneuf traded, but who would be interested in him and what could Brendan Shanahan get in return?
- Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Red Wings right-handed defenseman that they have in the system are not ready yet: Alexey Marchenko, Ryan Sproul and Nick Jensen. That means they will have to trade for one. Trade options could be: Mike Green, Cody Franson, Eric Gryba, Jeff Petry and Tyler Myers. The Hurricanes might entertain offers on Justin Faulk. Teams are wanting Tomas Tatar, Gustav Nyquist, Anthony Mantha or Dylan Larkin, as well as a high draft pick.
- Hope Smoke: Elliotte Friedman on the Sportsnet 590 on Ryan O’Reilly: “There’s no doubt he’s available. Would be really surprised if he isn’t traded before next season.” “The one trick thing with him is his signability.” “You talk about guys that are difficult to sign, you don’t know what their future is. ROR is that guy.” “I was talking to one GM, who I think would have interest in him , he said the biggest thing would be what are chances of me signing him before trading for him” “simply because he’s had some pretty big battles with Colorado.” “No doubt he’s a really good player. You can move him up & down your lineup can use him as your 1C if you have scoring Ws” “The Avs want defenseman with term & the thing is, if you give up a D with term, you want to know ROR is committing to you.” “I think Toronto would definitely be interested . I think there would be 25 teams interested.” “It comes down to, can you sign him & what is it going to cost you to do it?”
