  • The Fourth Period: The Hurricanes aren’t actively shopping Jeff Skinner, but teams are calling. GM Ron Francis has been taking offers on Andrej Sekera, Jiri Tlusty and Jay McClement. Skinner has four years left on his deal. It is believed the Canucks, Maple Leafs and Ducks have shown some interest in Skinner. Nothing appears to be imminent. Talk could pick up in the offseason.
  • The Fourth Period: The Panthers are getting closer to trading Sean Bergenheim. He’s been scratched from the lineup after he requested a trade.

“We are hoping Dale will get a deal he likes sooner than later,” Bergenheim’s agent, Todd Diamond, told TFP on Friday.

The Canadiens, Lightning, Penguins, Canucks, Rangers and Jets are said to be interested. A trade could happen this weekend.

  • David Pagnotta: There are 14 scouts listed to attend the Jets-Maple Leafs game last night. They didn’t list them as they normally do.
  • Adam Kimelman: Scouting the Flyers-Predators: Penguins (2), Lightning, Blackhawks, Blues, Coyotes, Canadiens, Panthers, Blue Jackets, Stars, Islanders and Red Wings.
  • Tom Gulitti: On the scouting list for the Devils-Carolina: Blue Jackets (2), Red Wings (2), Blackhawks (2), Sharks, Lightning, Predators, Sabres, Jets, Penguins and Coyotes.
  • Dave Stubbs: Scouting the Canadiens-Blue Jackets: Flames (2) and Dallas.
  • Craig Morgan: On the scouting list for the Coyotes-Ligthning: Hurricanes, Penguins, Wild, Blue Jackets, Rangers, Canadiens, Stars, Flyers and Red Wings.
  • David Staples: Oilers GM Craig MacTavish’s biggest decision will be who their next head coach is. He has to get it right this time.
  • Bill Watters: If the Bruins make a GM and coaching change after the season, two of “Neely Guys” are Don Sweeny and Bruce Cassidy.
