Rumors III: Jets, Panthers, Bruins, Flames and Canucks
  • Gary Lawless: The Jets are looking for a top-nine forward and the Panthers are looking for depth on the blueline. The Panthers have Sean Bergenheim to offer up, and the Jets have Paul Postma, Jay Harrison and Adam Pardy.  Bergenheim is in the last year of his deal at $2.75 million. The Jets have reportedly been talking to the Leafs about Daniel Winnik. They could also be interested in Blue Jackets Matt Calvert. The price for Winnik is a second round pick and a prospect. The price for in Calvert could be a third round pick. The Bruins were also talking to the Panthers about Bergenheim, with Matt Bartkowski being mentioned as well.
  • Gary Lawless: Panthers Sean Bergenheim’s name has came up a couple times yesterday as a possible fit for the Jets.
  • George Richards: There has been lots of talk around the Jets and Panthers Sean Bergenheim. The Jets have scouted him all year.
  • Nichols on Hockey: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 on Curtis Glencross.

“I’d also heard that he’d been asked to submit a list of teams and initially he had only one, and that was Anaheim.

“I believe as several of you have reported today, including Roger Millions, that he’s expanded that list a little bit.

“I think there’s a lot of interest. I think probably about half the league at some point has checked in on him. I’ve reported in the past Boston, Pittsburgh, Winnipeg, I believe Tampa. I think Chicago is in on there too, although it’s always tough with them because of their cap situation is so tight. I could even see a team like Washington potentially being interested.

Nichols on Hockey: Canucks GM Jim Benning on TSN 1040 on Zack Kassian.

“We’ve talked to a few teams on Zack, but listen – we know that Zack’s a unique player because it’s hard to find players with size and with skill and the hands that he has, so we’re not looking to move Zack. We want to just keep working with him and keep getting him better and hopefully he turns out to be the player that we all think he can be.”

Benning on contract talks with Chris Tanev.

“This morning we met with Chris Tanev’s representatives, just to talk about Chris and stuff and try to get to a place where we’re both happy on a deal going forward. So Trevor, Laurence and I just finished meeting with him and I think the meeting went well.

A deal is not close, but talks are happening.

  • News 1130 Sports: Tanev’s agent Wade Arnott on contract talks: “Discussions ongoing – nothing imminent. Both sides presenting their cases.
