- John Hoven: Sources saying the Maple Leafs haven’t had another interview with Michael Futa in the past few days. Nothing new to report this week. Michael Augello: Most reports saying the Leafs have talked to Futa twice already. Shanahan may not need to talk with him anymore regarding the GM position.
- Damien Cox: The Leafs have asked the Red Wings permission to speak with coaching assistants Jim Hiller and Andrew Brewer.
- Mike Harrington: Sabres GM Tim Murray said that he’ll encourage Dan Bylsma to interview Artus Irbe for his coaching staff. The rest will be up to Bylsma.
- David Pollak: Sharks GM Doug Wilson said he talked to 11 or 12 head coaching candidates before deciding on Peter DeBoer.
- Rich Chere of the Star Ledger: The likes of Dan Bylsma, Mike Babcock, Ken Hitchcock, Todd McLellan and Dave Hakstol have already been scooped up by teams. Devils GM Ray Shero has maintained all week that they are looking for the right fit. Remaining candidates include Guy Boucher, John Hynes, Paul MacLean and Todd Reirden.
