- Thomas Willis of Nashville Predators: Predators GM David Poile on the trade deadline.
“Fortunately for me, I was able to get out ahead of the deadline, which is probably every manager’s ideal situation,” Poile said. “You don’t want to get hung up in the last couple days and try to make a deal for the sake of making one…We knew what we wanted to do, and we were able to get out way ahead of it. I think everybody is comfortable with .”
Despite the additions of Cody Franson and Mike Santorelli, there is still some expectation that something else should happen.
- Craig Morgan: Coyotes GM Don Maloney said that several teams inquired about Keith Yandle, but they wanted to wait until after the season. None of those teams had prospects like Anthony Duclair.
- Jared Clinton: Taking away Yandle’s salary, the Coyotes now have less than $35 million in payroll for next season. Not surprise that they are retaining some salary.
- Chris Johnston: The Coyotes are still hoping to trade Zbynek Michalek, but GM Don Maloney says: “The deals are all hard.”
- David Pagnotta: Maloney added that they continue to have trade talks on other players like Michalek, Martin Erat, etc. Said that Michalek is close to returning.
- Mike Zeisberger: Maloney: “There’s still deals to be talked about. Stay tuned.”
- Arizona Coyotes: Maloney met with owners on Thursday: “It was very clear where we need to take this team. There was zero hesitation on their part.”
- Andy Strickland: Biggest concern about Zbynek Michalek would be when he’ll be ready to play.
- Josh Yohe: The Blackhawks were the only team scouting the Penguins-Blue Jackets game.
- Ansar Khan: Red Wings GM Ken Holland said that he’ll continue to work the phones looking for an upgrade on the blueline. If they can’t get a deal done, they are happy with their blueline as it is.
