On the Vancouver Canucks …
- Matthew Sekeres: (Brandon Prust put on waivers yesterday) The Canucks got a couple trade nibbles on Prust, but there were no takers. Doubtful that he gets claimed off waivers as he’s likely too pricey.
- TSN Radio Vancouver: The Canucks had been trying to trade Prust, and were willing to pick up a significant part of his salary, but there were still no takers.
- News 1130 Sports: Prust’s agent: “If Brandon does clear our plan is for him to report.”
- Vancouver Canucks: GM Jim Benning said that they made a decision on Prust heading into the All-Star break. They tried to find a trade partner, but they were not able to work anything out.

On the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs …

“I’ve heard nothing about obviously. Marc Bergevin would have a better idea, I would think – I would hope so anyways – of when exactly Carey Price might be coming back and that might dictate a lot of things.
One of the things Marc Bergevin doesn’t want to do is hit the so-called panic button.
Now some people would suggest the panic button should be hit because it’s unacceptable what’s going on in Montreal right now. But if you know you’ve got Carey Price for the long haul – and you do, regardless of whether he comes back in 2 or 3 weeks or 2 or 3 months or not at all this season, to giveup any kind of significant assets for what amounts to a rental goaltender, I don’t see where James Reimer is going to be any kind of long-term solution for the Canadiens once Price is healthy.
Now, if it’s to try and save the season because you can’t wait for Price to get back and you need it, I guess that’s possible.
To this point and time, the sense I’ve gotten from Bergevin and Montreal is that the short-term patch isn’t something that he’s looking at. But again, with each passing day – my goodness – they’re going to have to do something aren’t they?”
