- The Fourth Period: The Leafs are thought to be still looking at the trade market to improve their roster, but a change behind the bench is unlikely at this point. Darren Dreger mentioned on Tuesday that although Carlyle’s job isn’t in jeopardy, he’s on a relatively short leash. Dreger notes that they could make a move around the 15 to 20 games mark if they don’t make up some ground in the standings. A trade could come before Carlyle is moved out though. Nothing appears to be imminent.
- Joe Haggerty of CSNNE: Bruins Matt Bartkowski is struggling, and could be replaced tonight by Joe Morrow. Perhaps he needs a change of scenery after some inconsistent play and being in the rumor mill for the past three seasons. They could really use the Bartowski that almost logged 20 minutes a night on the second pairing with Johnny Boychuk, but they aren’t getting that from him now.
- Kevin Kurz of the CSN Bay Area: Former Shark and current Avs defenseman Brad Stuart.
“I was a little confused by some of the comments that I had heard. I didn’t feel like there was a rift in the room or anything,” he said. “If there was, I was blind to it.”
- Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dreger on TSN 1290 on if the Canadiens would look to make a move to bolster their lineup if there are near the top later in the season.
“I think he does. I think that he has the backing from ownership to do that. I think that he’s got a plan that he’s not willing to share, and why would he, that would include something like that.”
….
“But again, if the right fit is out there, and even if it’s a rental opportunity where Bergevin knows either offensively or defensively this piece is going to be make his team a better bet to win the East and challenge for that Stanley Cup, he’ll do it. No question.”
