On the Columbus Blue Jackets and Ryan Johansen …

  • The Fourth Period: Sources saying that at least six teams are interested in Blue Jackets Ryan Johansen. Two sources said over the weekend that the Canadiens are one of the teams that has shown interest. The Ottawa Sun said the Wild and Jets are interested.

It is thought that the Maple Leafs have checked in, but are not considered  to be serious contenders.

The Blue Jackets don’t appear to be close to trading him at this time, but trade talks are expected to continue leading up the trade deadline. It is possible that they don’t move him in-season, but closer to the draft.

On Patrik Elias …

  • Rich Chere of NJ.com: Patrik Elias on if he’s thinking ahead to next season or if this year could be his last.

“Not at all. I’m okay with anything,” Elias said Monday after practicing with a group of six other Devils at Joe Louis Arena. “I hope I’ll still be able to play after this year. But if not, if I don’t feel like I can go through the grind for another 60-70 games next season with the knee bothering me more than it has been, I might have to make a decision and see what’s best for me.”

Elias on if he could see himself playing for a another team.

“I’ve seen it happen to guys I felt would never go somewhere else. It has happened,” Elias said. “I’m not going to say I’ll never play for someone else. Hopefully I won’t have to make that decision.”

On the Florida Panthers …

  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The Panthers tried to trade for Cam Talbot at the entry draft, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they take another run at him to help out their playoff push. Al Montoya is currently backing up Roberto Luongo.
