From NHL.com correspondent Joe Yerdon on Sam Reinhart: Yerdon writes that there are many centremen in camp for the Buffalo Sabres, including Reinhart. Last season, Reinhart played three games at right wing in the AHL and he may have to stay on the wing to crack the Sabres’ opening night roster. Yerdon notes that Reinhart could be returned to the AHL instead of his junior team but Reinhart has impressed with his play at the development camp in July and the Prospect Challenge in September.

“Obviously Max Domi is ahead of the pack in regards to we know he’s mature, we know he’s got a strong body, he has a skill set that we lack. If one of these guys comes in and shows they can help us win right off the bat, then we will keep them around for a while.”
- From Tracey Myers from CSNChicago.com on Bryan Bickell’s injury status: Myers writes that Bickell tuned out trade rumours over the offseason and remains a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. But Bickell admits that he is still battling the effects of vertigo that sidelined him for the Stanley Cup Final against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He said:
“There still symptoms over the course of different situations but I’m working on it every day to get better and better and hopefully it leaves sooner than later…You just want to be out there. Then the course of the summer you think things are getting better, then you kind of take couple steps backwards. But I think these last couple weeks we’re taking the right steps and just need to stick with the system that’s working…Just keep moving forward.”
- James O’Brien at NBCSports.com on Brian Elliott and the Blues’ crease: Citing a report from Jeremy Rutherford at the St. Louis Blues training camp, O’Brien speculates that Brian Elliott may yet again claim the Blues’ starting gig in goal. Elliott has remained key in the goaltending picture in St. Louis while Jaroslav Halak, Ryan Miller, and now Jake Allen have all shared the crease to some degree. O’Brien adds that head coach Ken Hitchcock said the team will “keep an eye” on Allen, suggesting that the injury is not severe.
