On the Toronto Maple Leafs …
- Platinum Seat Ghosts: Darren Dreger on Dion Phaneuf, Joffrey Lupul and Tyler Bozak: “I think you could trade each one of those guys without a problem.”
- Platinum Seat Ghosts: Darren Dreger on potential Maple Leafs trades: “The only money they have to retain, for me, is on Bernier”
On the Nashville Predators …
- Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 on the Nashville Predators.
“I think they have a pretty big decision to make. They’re asking around. I think they’ve asked about Johansen. I think they asked about Matt Duchene when Duchene was available. I think they’re one of the teams that asked about Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
“What they’re being told – pretty simple. ‘Which one of your defensemen are you willing to give up?’
“They’re not willing to go into their top three – which is Shea Weber, Roman Josi, Seth Jones – but that’s what everybody wants. So I think there’s a bit of a poker game being played there.”
The Predators may be more willing to make defenseman Ryan Ellis or Mattias Ekholm available for trade.
“I think that obviously if Nashville had their choice, that’s what they’d rather do. An Ellis or an Ekholm. But teams want more than that. Nashville, at this point in time, is not willing to do it. And I don’t know if they’ll ever be willing to do it, to be perfectly honest.”
On the Washington Capitals …
- Chris Nichols of Today’s Slapshot: Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet 960 on the Washington Capitals.
“I think there’s a lot of different ways that team can beat you. I think they’re very legit. They’re in ‘go for it’ mode. They’re going to go out and they’re looking at adding one more forward, maybe another center, to try and win the Stanley Cup this season.”
