- TSN Insider Trading: LeBrun: Most teams felt the Senators overpaid for Bobby Ryan.
McKenzie: The Senators offered Marc Methot a four-year deal with a cap hit of $4.625 million. Methot is looking for at least five years around $5 million. If they can’t get a deal done, Methot will likely be traded at some point.
Dreger: The Bruins have had lots of trade talk and could make a deal if they wanted as the offers have been decent. They are looking for a second round pick and a prospect and a NHL player or pick for Johnny Boychuk, Matt Bartowski or Adam McQuaid. Five teams from the West and three from the East are interested. Preliminary talks between the Bruins and Dougie Hamilton could start soon.
LeBrun: The Ducks are one of the teams interested in Johnny Boychuk. The price is too high at the moment.
McKenzie: Flyers Luke Schenn has always been available. Nick Grossman could also be available.
- Bruce Garrioch: Thinks the Senators latest offer to defenseman Marc Methot is for four-years with a cap hit of more than $4.5 million.
- Tim Panaccio: Flyers GM Ron Hextall said some cuts will be made today. Won’t say about Sam Morin but denies that he is trying to trade Luke Schenn and Nicklas Grossmann.
- Frank Seravalli: Hextall on the trade rumors: “don’t believe everything you read.”
- Sam Carchidi: It would be extremely difficult to move Luke Schenn’s and/or Nicklas Grossmann’s contract(s).
- Pierre LeBrun: Told that the Blue Jackets improved their offer to Ryan Johansen to $3.25 million per year. Johansen’s side countered with $4.5 million.
- Elliotte Friedman: So with it sounding like Johansen’s last offer was two-years at $4.5 million per season, would assume that the second year would have a higher salary since he will be arbitration eligible at the end of the deal.
- Aaron Portzline: Can confirm that the Blue Jackets and Johansen agent Kurt Overhardt got a little closer yesterday.
- Chris Johnston: The Senators could be in the mix for getting the Heritage Classic in two years.
